About Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering is a professional Engineering Discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical & naturally built environment, including works like bridges, roads, canals, dams & buildings. Civil Engineering is the oldest Engineering discipline after Military Engineering and it was defined to distinguish Non-Military Engineering from Military Engineering. It is traditionally broken into Several sub disciplines including Environment Engineering, Geo- Technical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Municipal & Urban Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Materials Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Surveying & Construction Engineering. Civil Engineering takes place on all levels: In the Public Sector from Municipal through to National Governments and in the Private Sector from individual house owners through to International Companies.

Electrical engineering is concerned more with power generation, storage and transmission. About Automobile Engineering
Modern automotive industries need experts in vehicle design and manufacture. With this in mind, the Department of Automobile Engineering was established in 2004 to train the students in the area of automobile engineering. Since Chennai is the automobile hub of India, with Ford, Hyundai, BMW, Ashok Leyland and others, this course gains significance for those who are passionate about automobiles.
